The Trustees of St Chad’s Retreat Centres are as follows:
Revd Sue Watson (Chair)
I am a retired priest with experience of working in churches in Wolverhampton, where I live – and South Staffordshire. I currently have Permission to officiate in the Diocese.
My background is in the management and supervision of offenders in the Criminal Justice system – a Probation Officer by training. I have two grown-up children.
I have been a Trustee of Shallowford House for two years and Chair since December 2021 and I’m encouraged to see the way Shallowford is ‘bouncing back’ after the pandemic.
Mr David Boote
I am a retired Chartered Surveyor and live with my wife Barbara (a churchwarden) and boisterous labradoodle, Dolly, in the rural northern tip of South Staffordshire.
My working life was with the District Valuer/Valuation Officer organisation (part of HMRC and later an executive agency) where I later managed teams of surveyors and support staff and was responsible for providing valuation and property advice to other government departments as well as other public and quasi-public bodies.
These days I enjoy daily walks with the dog, the occasional cycle ride, maintaining a classic car, birdwatching, and the building and flying of model aircraft, though a significant amount of time is spent looking after a larger than average garden. In my church life I have been treasurer, choir member and currently am a vocalist in the music group
Revd Jeanette Hartwell
I’m currently the Director of Ministry in the Diocese of Lichfield and have had a long association with Shallowford House, having served both as a Reader and a priest in the diocese. I joined the Trustees in 2021 to continue to offer support and to forge closer links between the House and the wider diocese, in order that we might make the best use of this valuable resource. I spend a good deal of time at the house (sometimes residentially) hosting training events, and I often refer to it as my second home! I’m married with two grown up sons and was a chartered accountant before I was ordained.
Mr Steve Vince
Steve became a Christian as a teenager and has lived in Wolverhampton for nearly all his adult life; he has been married to Alison for over forty years and they have two adult children. He has been involved with Shallowford House since 1987, when God called him to become a prayer supporter, and became a Trustee in 2021. He is involved in the life of St Mary’s Church in Bushbury as a musician and occasional preacher. Now retired, he now has more time to pursue his interest in travelling, especially on the railways.
Rosanne Wilshire
I am currently Priest in Charge of the parish of St Stephen the Martyr in Willenhall. I was licensed to this post in January 2020. Since April 2023 I have also served as Assistant Rural Dean of Wulfrun Deanery. Prior to my call to ministry, I worshipped at Lichfield Cathedral for a number of years whilst working as a Paediatric Physiotherapist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
My relationship with Shallowford House began in 2009 when I attended a Cathedral away day. Since this time, I have visited Shallowford regularly for training and other events, but my most regular contact has been as a member of the Shallowford House Garden Working Parties. During this time I have come to value Shallowford House very highly. I have seen first-hand how hugely valuable a resource the house is to so many people, of all faiths and none. I believe, Shallowford House is a place which continues to have huge potential in serving the needs of individuals, churches and other organisations throughout the diocese and beyond and as a Trustee, I am committed to supporting and enabling this potential to be realised, to the best of my ability.
